Application Engineer

Your main tasks
- Designing, collecting data, analyzing and compiling reports on moderately difficult process engineering experiments, within safety guidelines
- Performing hardware characterization on moderately difficult systems, within safety guidelines
- Troubleshooting moderately complex problems, performing Root Cause Analyzing and resolving moderately difficult process engineering issues
- Measuring film properties, organizing data/reports for review and ability to interpret data
- Generating internal documentation for products, presentations and technical reports
- Interacting with customers to resolve moderately difficult process engineering issues/problems under general supervision
- Identifying, selecting and working with vendors and suppliers under general supervision
- Implementing new technology, products, analytical instrumentation and functional knowledge
- Demonstrating expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broader skills
- Ability to understand and use key business drivers
- Hands-on experimental work in collaboration with other scientists, engineers and technicians for the testing and qualification of processes and hardware
- Contributing to the definition of system concepts and component changes for the development of new and the optimization of existing hardware
- Single-handed execution of customer samplings and support of customer specific applications
- Supporting the business unit in the transfer of new processes to the customer provision of expert know-how to Application Engineers, customers and partners
- Screening of literature and IP
- Working with Evatec tools such as ECP, BPS, SMT as well as software related systems, keeping all systems up to date, plus analyzing and visualizing data, e.g. show a failure analysis in a Pareto Chart.
Your profile
- A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics with emphasis on solid state physics or plasma physics
- Generally 3 to 5 years experience in an equipment manufacturing environment or with foundry handling processes
- Sound background in Thin Film Technology using PVD and/or PECVD or Plasma Physics
- Strong analytical background
- Experience in scientific work with excellent written communication skills
- Structured and logical way of working and problem solving
- Ability to work independently and have a high level of accountability
- Experience in Thin Film Metrology and related analytical equipment used in the characterization thin film
- Proficient in MS-Office, Minitab, also in programming with Visual Basic or Python or any other programming language
- In-depth understanding of Thin Film processes such as reactive & metal sputtering and ICP etch processes is a plus
- Good temperament and always works to convince others using data
- Must be able to travel within short notice
- Fluent in English
This role will involve regular travel within Asia for business and to Europe for training/process transfer
