“Sustainability” refers to our commitment to protecting the environment and our planet, but it’s reach is much wider. As a company we care about all our stakeholders including our employees and supplier partners, and that means conducting our business in a sustainable way for the benefit of everyone.
Quality and continuous improvement are central to how we grow and serve our customers better and better. The design of our production tools is increasingly modular. They are built to use fewer materials, are more robust for a long and reliable service life, and remain flexible for later reconfiguration as customer needs evolve. We invest in a highly trained and motivated workforce with process know-how to help customers manufacture next-generation devices more sustainably, using less consumables or achieving higher manufacturing output from a single tool.
Sustainability touches every part of our business. From ensuring secure IT and banking systems to safe working practices for our employees and resilient supply chains. Every member of our global team contributes to keeping Evatec a sustainable business for the future.
Transparency is a good starting point, so please take a moment to explore our first Sustainability Report 2024 to learn more about where we started and where we're heading.

We know that many more challenges will come, from new regulations to supply chain risks, but we see them as opportunities to become more resilient and innovative in our industry.
Since Evatec’s foundation in 2004, sustainability has played an active role in our thinking. We follow policies that conserve resources in manufacturing by minimizing waste and emissions, improving product energy efficiency, and reusing and recycling materials in both facility management and product construction. Know-how development bringing advanced process control (APC) hardware/software for more accurate layer thickness control, better film thickness uniformity, and run-to-run repeatability were early R&D initiatives at our company.
Evatec’s APC technology “ broadband optical monitoring with in-situ reoptimization“ is the perfect way to maximize production yield and avoid scrap of expensive substrates in complex optical coating processes.
Continuous improvement of sustainability in both our products and our operations is always on the agenda. At our headquarters in Truebbach, we’ve launched targeted initiatives to reduce energy consumption in our facility, and optimize system design for our customers. That means more compact and efficient tools, helping customers reduce the use of expensive clean room resources and integrate our systems using less floor space.
We’ve also strengthened our supply chains to meet higher environmental and social standards. Our ERP system enables us to manage sustainability data effectively, track progress, and make well-informed decisions. These efforts reflect our commitment to responsible innovation and long-term positive impact.
Evatec’s second generation advanced packaging tool HEXAGON launched in 2022 delivered both a reduction in footprint and an increase in output per tool relative to its first generation predecessor.
Evatec AG commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Evatec AG also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 25% within the same timeframe.
Delivering products that meet the highest quality standards is a core value at Evatec. Our thin film technologies support sustainable growth across the wider semiconductor, optoelectronics and photonics value chains. Our systems reduce the consumption of energy or materials in operation which in turn helps customers meet their own rising demands for performance and sustainability.
As a company, Evatec invests in long-term R&D projects, anticipating the new software, hardware or process capabilities our customers will need to enable next generation applications in electric mobility, personal connectivity, high-performance computing, and AI. Our capital allocation reflects this commitment, with funds directed toward innovation, decarbonization.
Evatec’s new generation Multi BAK launched in 2023 delivers typical operational energy savings of up to 60% when compared with processes in typical stand alone evaporators*
*savings vary according to exact process and tool configuration

As a manufacturing company, and one that also operates its own equipment in a laboratory setting for the development of new processes, we are fully aware that our activities involve high energy consumption. We aim to keep energy usage as low as possible while maximizing the efficiency of our processes.
We are reducing our environmental footprint through smarter product design and facility upgrades. Our systems now include ECO modes and software features to cut standby energy use.
We aim to keep waste volumes as low as possible and to recycle materials efficiently. We follow the well-established principle: avoid, reuse, and dispose of waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
Evatec is participating in the “EnAW” Large Energy Consumers project aimed at reducing energy consumption and increasing efficiency. Amongst a number of current initiatives we have plans for installation of a photovoltaic system to increase renewables contribution by a further 10% of our overall energy consumption by the end of 2026.
Ethics, integrity, and compliance are core values that guide our actions and business processes. We believe that sustainable success can only be achieved through responsible and transparent conduct.
Evatec employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of personal and professional integrity. We are also committed to maintaining high ethical standards in our relationships with stakeholders. We screen suppliers for ESG criteria and conduct targeted audits.
